Athlete Strategy: Trust Your Training

Being an athlete can be more challenging than you think. Sports will push you mentally as well as physically but I am sure you are aware of that. The way you eat, what you lift, how you study and balancing your schedule matters. Building your confidence takes time and effort. Once you gain it, good things can and will happen but if you lose confidence, your performance declines.

Trust Your Training

You must rely on your training and preparation to build trust in your ability. Training sessions and practices aren't just about showing up and completing exercises. This is your time to put yourself through strenuous situations and test, so when it's competition time, your body is familiar with the movements. The more repetitions you execute, the better you feel.

Do not forget the mental aspect that you go through in your minds. Successful athletes win in advance. They understand what their opponents do well and go through scenarios in their mind hundreds of times.

Competing in sports can put you in high pressure situations. Some individuals deal with the scenarios better than others. When you are in a game time situation, many times your instincts will take over and that will be because you have put your body through test in your training. You also took the time to program your inner mind.

To conclude, relying on your training will help build confidence in your ability. There is a saying that "Film doesn't lie" and it is still true. Take time to study daily. Focus on and execute the fundamentals in practice. In the next blog, I will discuss how important it is to get with the right coach because it matters.
