1) The crossover run is simply a lateral side run that defensive backs can use in man or zone coverage.
2) The crossover run requires you to have your chest and head over your toes. You should have a low posture with knees slightly bent.
3) While running laterally, your feet should repeatedly step over one another pushing off the inside portion of your foot.
4) Remember how important it is to keep your arms active (constantly moving) throughout the entire rep. Anytime your arm motion stops, you will slow yourself down and you will see less power out of your breaks.
5) Speaking of getting out of breaks, the defensive back must keep the front shoulder pointed down and having a good rhythm in the movement is beneficial. Your crossover run should be smooth and fluid.
6) Your eyes have to be disciplined. In man to man coverage while in the crossover run should be on the receivers hip throughout the rep. In zone coverage, your vision should be on the quarterback while you have threats in your area in view(peripheral).
